Vietnam-Thailand trade relations

Vietnam and Thailand established formal diplomatic relations in 1976 and have since expanded economic ties through bilateral agreements and regional frameworks such as the ASEAN Free Trade Area.

Trade relations accelerated after both countries deepened commitments under the ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA) agreement, supporting tariff reduction and supply chain integration across manufacturing and agriculture.

Thailand is one of Vietnam’s largest trading partners within ASEAN, with strong links in energy, consumer goods, petrochemicals, and automotive components.

Bilateral cooperation has continued to broaden through investment agreements and joint initiatives aimed at boosting two-way trade, logistics connectivity, and private sector collaboration.
