Vietnam’s cashew nut industry overview

Vietnam is the world’s largest exporter of cashew nuts, supplying more than half of global demand through a strong network of processors concentrated in the southern provinces.

The industry benefits from Vietnam’s established processing technology, export infrastructure, and diverse markets across the United States, China, and Europe.

However, domestic raw cashew production meets less than half of processing demand, forcing Vietnam to import significant volumes from Africa for reprocessing and export.

Rising input costs, stricter food-safety standards, and fluctuating demand in key markets continue to challenge the sector’s margins and competitiveness.
