Vietnam-Canada trade relations
Vietnam and Canada maintain a growing trade relationship under the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
Vietnam enjoys a large trade surplus with Canada, driven by exports of garments, footwear, furniture, and seafood, while importing machinery, agricultural products, and minerals.
Canada supplies Vietnam with key raw materials such as ores, fertilizers, soybeans, and fishery products, supporting Vietnam’s manufacturing and food sectors.
Both countries are strengthening cooperation in renewable energy, clean technology, and education as trade diversifies beyond goods.
Canada views Vietnam as a strategic entry point to ASEAN, while Vietnam benefits from preferential access to the Canadian market under the CPTPP.
