Vietnam’s cashew nut industry
Vietnam’s cashew nut industry is one of the world’s largest.
Production is concentrated in southern provinces, particularly Binh Phuoc, but domestic raw cashew output meets only a fraction of processor demand.
Vietnam imports large volumes of raw cashews from Africa—mainly Ivory Coast, Ghana and Nigeria—for shelling, grading and re-export to markets such as the US, Europe and China.
The sector includes major processors like Lafooco (LAF) and members of the Vietnam Cashew Association (VINACAS), which drives quality, branding and market diversification efforts.
Government policy supports mechanisation, sustainability and value-added processing to maintain competitiveness in global supply chains.
