Vietnam’s yarn industry
Vietnam’s yarn industry is a core upstream segment of the country’s textile and garment supply chain, supporting large export-oriented apparel manufacturing.
Production is concentrated in synthetic yarns such as polyester and nylon, alongside cotton yarn, with output closely linked to global apparel demand.
The industry has expanded in response to free trade agreement rules of origin, particularly “yarn-forward” requirements under newer trade deals.
Despite growth, Vietnam remains reliant on imported raw materials, leaving yarn producers exposed to price volatility and shifts in global trade conditions.
