Vietnam’s imports of machinery, equipment, tools, and instruments declined by 5.05 percent month-on-month in February, amounting to US$3.79 billion, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This follows January’s total of US$3.99 billion, bringing year-to-date imports to US$7.79 billion.
China remained Vietnam’s largest supplier, accounting for 56.78 percent of total imports at US$2.15 billion, despite a 15.42 percent decline from January. Japan and South Korea saw notable increases of 14.75 percent and 15.92 percent, respectively, with imports from these countries reaching US$395.26 million and US$393.54 million.
Among other key suppliers, Germany recorded a 19.73 percent rise to US$111.41 million, while Thailand’s shipments jumped 51.43 percent to US$95.59 million. Imports from Belgium and Canada surged by 242.65 percent and 306.32 percent, respectively.
