The garment, hat, and footwear group in Vietnam decreased by 0.11 percent in February, driven by reduced demand for clothes and shoes following the Lunar New Year, according to Vietnam’s Consumer Price Index.
Footwear prices saw the largest decline, dropping by 0.24 percent, while ready-made clothes decreased by 0.11 percent. On the other hand, fabric prices increased by 0.07 percent, other garments rose by 0.06 percent, and headwear prices increased by 0.12 percent. Garment, hat, and footwear services also saw a slight rise of 0.14 percent.
The overall decline in demand post-holidays was partially offset by steady increases in the prices of certain clothing and accessory categories.
Prices for garments, hats, and footwear in Vietnam vary depending on factors such as brand, quality, and whether the products are locally produced or imported. Generally, Vietnam offers a wide range of options to suit various budgets, from affordable local brands to premium international labels.
For garments, local clothing brands and markets provide affordable options for everyday wear, with prices for basic items like t-shirts, trousers, and dresses being relatively low. International brands, which have a strong presence in urban areas, tend to be more expensive. High-quality garments, including those made from natural fibers or premium materials, are typically priced higher. Vietnam is also a key producer of garments, with many items exported abroad, which helps keep local prices competitive.
Hats, including traditional conical hats (nón lá) and modern fashion hats, are widely available at varying prices. Traditional Vietnamese hats are often affordable and can be purchased at local markets, while fashion hats from international brands or high-end designers can be much more expensive.
Footwear prices in Vietnam are similarly varied. Locally produced footwear, such as sandals and flip-flops, are inexpensive and widely available in markets and street vendors. High-end footwear brands, particularly international labels like Nike, Adidas, and Puma, are sold in retail stores at higher prices. Locally made shoes, such as leather sandals or casual footwear, offer budget-friendly alternatives, while more durable or specialty shoes can be pricier.
Vietnam offers a broad spectrum of prices for garments, hats, and footwear, with options available for every budget. While local products are generally affordable, international brands and high-quality items come at premium prices, particularly in urban retail environments.
