Vietnam’s imports of electric consumer products and parts declined by 4.79 percent month-on-month in January to US$198.94 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This follows a decrease from US$208.94 million recorded in December.
Year-to-date, Vietnam’s total imports of these products stood at US$198.94 million. China remained the largest supplier, contributing US$79.72 million, or 40.08 percent of the total. Thailand followed with US$74.40 million, representing 37.39 percent, while Malaysia supplied US$30.91 million.
Among major suppliers, Malaysia recorded the highest month-on-month growth, increasing 46.90 percent. Spain also saw a notable rise of 39.81 percent. In contrast, Indonesia experienced the steepest decline, with imports falling 77.41 percent. Turkey and South Korea also posted significant drops of 50.90 percent and 34.88 percent, respectively.
The industry remains reliant on China and Thailand, which together accounted for nearly 80 percent of Vietnam’s electric consumer product imports. The sharp increase in imports from Malaysia signals shifting sourcing trends, while the decline from Indonesia reflects changing trade dynamics.
