Vietnam’s crude oil imports increased by 30.73 percent month-on-month in February, reaching US$804.76 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This brings total year-to-date crude oil imports to US$1.46 billion.
Kuwait remained Vietnam’s dominant supplier, accounting for 80 percent of total imports. Shipments from Kuwait rose by 44.21 percent month-on-month to US$643.78 million. Meanwhile, imports from other sources decreased by 4.84 percent, totaling US$160.98 million.
The sharp rise in crude oil imports underscores Vietnam’s growing energy needs and refinery operations, with Kuwait continuing to be the primary source for the country’s crude supply.
