The USA accounted for US$809 million worth of Vietnam’s wood and wooden products exports in January. This was down from US$833 million in wood and wooden products exports in December, a change of -2.98 percent. Year to date, Vietnam has shipped US$809 million worth of wood and wooden products to the USA.
After the USA was China making up US$228 million worth of Vietnam’s wood and wooden products exports in January. This was down from US$275 million in wood and wooden products exports in December, a change of -16.83 percent. Year to date, Vietnam has shipped US$228 million worth of wood and wooden products to China.
Next was Japan taking US$216 million worth of Vietnam’s wood and wooden products exports in January. This was up from US$195 million in wood and wooden products exports in December, a change of 10.86 percent. Year to date, Vietnam has shipped US$216 million worth of wood and wooden products to Japan.
Following Japan was South Korea representing US$58 million worth of Vietnam’s wood and wooden products exports in January. This was down from US$64 million in wood and wooden products exports in December, a change of -9.56 percent. Year to date, Vietnam has shipped US$58 million worth of wood and wooden products to South Korea.
Rounding out the top five was Canada constituting US$30 million worth of Vietnam’s wood and wooden products exports in January. This was up from US$30 million in wood and wooden products exports in December, a change of 1.91 percent. Year to date, Vietnam has shipped US$30 million worth of wood and wooden products to Canada.

US countervailing duties on wood
The United States Department of Commerce issued preliminary countervailing duties on certain plywood and decorative wood products imported from Vietnam.
Preliminary subsidy rates range from 4.37 percent to 26.75 percent for mandatory respondents, while other Vietnamese exporters face a provisional rate of 15.56 percent.
The US Commerce Department preliminarily found subsidies in Vietnam’s preferential lending by state-owned banks, industrial promotion grants, and the provision of inputs at below market prices, with a final ruling due in May 2026 and no retroactive duties imposed.
