Wheat in Vietnam

Vietnam relies heavily on imported wheat due to limited domestic production, with supply primarily sourced from major exporters such as Australia, Canada, and Brazil.

The commodity is a key input for the country’s flour milling industry, supporting demand from food processing sectors including noodles, bread, and animal feed.

Import volumes and pricing are closely linked to global market conditions, freight costs, and currency movements, making the sector sensitive to external shocks.

Growth in processed food consumption and urbanisation continues to underpin demand, while suppliers compete on price, quality, and logistical reliability.
