Vietnam’s plastic products industry

Vietnam’s plastic industry has developed into a significant manufacturing sector, supplying packaging, household goods, construction materials, and components for electronics and automotive production.

The sector is closely linked to export-oriented industries, particularly food processing, textiles, footwear, and consumer electronics, making it an important part of industrial supply chains.

Most firms are small and medium-sized enterprises, though a number of larger domestic groups and foreign-invested manufacturers operate in industrial zones near Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

Challenges include reliance on imported petrochemical resins, exposure to global price volatility, and increasing pressure to comply with environmental standards and circular economy regulations.
