ToggleIn January, Vietnam exported US$781 million worth of goods to the UK, up 16.65 percent over December, according to preliminary data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
So far this year, Vietnam has exported US$781 million worth of goods to the UK.
Vietnam exported US$176.61 million worth of phones to the UK in January. This was up from US$43.36 million in December, a change of 307.31 percent.
It also exported US$94.51 million worth of computers to the UK in January. This was down from US$106.77 million in December, a change of -11.48 percent.
Adding to that, Vietnam exported US$84.08 million worth of footwear to the UK in January. This was up from US$82.94 million in December, a change of 1.37 percent.
It also exported US$82.77 million worth of machines, equipment, tools and instruments to the UK in January. This was down from US$94.31 million in December, a change of -12.23 percent.
Vietnam also exported US$76.43 million worth of textiles and garments to the UK in January. This was down from US$82.98 million in December, a change of -7.89 percent.

Vietnam trade with the UK
In January, Vietnam imported US$74.21 million worth of goods from UK and exported US$781.46 million to the UK, for total trade worth US$855.67 million, and leaving a trade surplus of US$707.25 million.
Two-way trade so far this year between Vietnam and the UK has reached US$856 million, with Vietnam importing US$074 million worth of goods and exporting US$781 million worth of goods.

UK Vietnam rebar safeguard exemption gone
Vietnamese rebar exports have lost safeguard exemption status in the United Kingdom after a review found shipments reached 21,184 tonnes, or 5.53 percent of total UK rebar imports.
The United Kingdom Trade Remedies Authority concluded the share exceeded the three percent de minimis threshold for developing economies, ending Vietnam’s exemption effective January 1, 2026.
UK consultancy VN golf development
The Vietnam Golf Association has signed an agreement with global consultancy 54 to jointly develop a national golf strategy for Vietnam.
The association said the strategy aims to manage rapid growth in domestic golfers, golf course development, and golf tourism demand.

Vietnam-UK trade relations
Vietnam and the United Kingdom have expanded trade ties in recent decades, supported by diplomatic engagement and economic reforms in Vietnam.
Bilateral trade has grown across goods and services, with key Vietnamese exports including textiles, footwear, electronics and agricultural products.
The UK-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement took effect in 2021, maintaining preferential access following the United Kingdom’s departure from the European Union.
The agreement covers tariff reductions, services, investment and regulatory cooperation, building on commitments previously established under the European Union-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement.
