Vietnam textiles and garments news
Recent developments in textiles and garments in Vietnam include:
Textile / garment industry performance 2025
Vietnam’s textile and garment industry recovered in 2025, with listed firms’ revenue rising 7 percent and net profit up 48 percent, while exports reached about US$46 billion, according to an article from Vietstock.
Much of the growth was front-loaded into early 2025 as buyers accelerated orders, with a visible slowdown in the fourth quarter and pressure on prices and margins.
Entering 2026, the industry targets exports of US$48–50 billion but faces constraints from low localisation, imported inputs, tighter green standards, and thinner margins.
India vs Vietnam textile / garment manufacturing
The India–European Union free trade agreement is expected to put India on an equal footing with Vietnam and Bangladesh in the European textile market by eliminating import duties, India’s commerce minister has said.
India previously faced tariffs of up to 12 percent on textile exports to Europe, while Vietnam and Bangladesh enjoyed zero duty under preferential trade arrangements.
Under the agreement, all Indian textile products will receive zero-duty access from day one, the linked article notes.
Singapore invested textile factory groundbreaking
Singapore’s Best Pacific has broken ground on its Mega Textile Vietnam factory in Nghe An, following investment approval in late 2024.
The project scale has been revised upward from 51.18 hectares and US$590 million to 67.5 hectares and US$940 million, making it the largest textile investment in the province.
The factory will be developed in four phases, employ about 15,000 workers, and begin operations in the second quarter of 2028.
The plant will operate as an export processing enterprise producing fabric, yarn, garments, and related products for global brands including Victoria’s Secret, Uniqlo, FILA, and Triumph.

Vietnam’s textiles and garments industry
Vietnam’s textile and garment industry is one of the country’s largest export earners and a major employer, integrated deeply into regional and global supply chains.
It has benefited from free trade agreements, competitive labour costs, and strong demand from the United States, Europe, and Northeast Asia.
In recent years, the sector has faced slower order growth, rising wages, and tighter environmental and compliance requirements.
