ToggleIn October, Vietnam exported US$752 billion worth of goods to Thailand, up 0.92 percent over September, according to preliminary data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
So far this year, Vietnam has exported US$7,096 million worth of goods to Thailand.
Vietnam’s biggest export to Thailand in value terms was computers, electrical products, and spare-parts, with US$158.81 worth shipped. This was down 2.38 percent over September. It brings the total so far this year to US$1,331.39 million.
This was followed by machine, equipment, tools and instruments, valued at US$130.83 million, up 13.26 percent from September. Year-to-date these exports reached US$979.09 million.
“Other products” were also popular with exports to Thailand, totalling US$59.79 million, rising 9.61 percent over September. Cumulative shipments now stand at US$646.88 million.
Other means of transportation, and parts also featured prominently account for US$59.21 million worth of exports to Thailand, an increase of 1.16 percent versus September. Total exports so far this year are US$551.15 million.
Exports of telephones, mobile phones and parts thereof to Thailand round out the top five, with US$54.33 million shipped.

Vietnam trade with Thailand
In October, Vietnam imported US$1,098.84 million worth of goods from Thailand and exported US$751.91 million, for total trade worth US$1,850.75 million, and leaving a trade deficit of US$346.93 million.
Two-way trade so far this year between Vietnam and Thailand has reached US$17,995 million, with Vietnam importing US$10,899 million worth of goods and exporting US$7,096 million worth of goods.

Thailand buys into Vietnam power plant
Japan’s Sumitomo Group sold 50 percent of its stake in Van Phong Power Company, owner of the Van Phong 1 thermal power plant, to Thailand’s EGAT International and the Philippines’ AboitizPower, each acquiring 25 percent, it was announced earlier this month.
Sumitomo will retain 50 percent and continue joint operations to ensure stable power supply and pursue energy transition goals.
Vietnam-Thailand trade relations
Vietnam and Thailand have developed one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic bilateral trade partnerships.
Both are members of ASEAN and cooperate under multiple frameworks, including the ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA) and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).
Trade has expanded steadily, with Thailand consistently among Vietnam’s top trading partners.
The partnership covers a wide range of sectors such as automotive, energy, agriculture, and consumer goods.
