Vietnam-Netherlands trade relations
Vietnam and the Netherlands established diplomatic relations in 1973, with trade ties expanding steadily following Vietnam’s Doi Moi economic reforms and export-led growth.
The Netherlands has become one of Vietnam’s largest European trading partners and a major gateway for Vietnamese goods into the European Union.
Bilateral trade relations are underpinned by the European Union–Vietnam Free Trade Agreement, effective from 2020, which reduces tariffs, improves market access, and strengthens rules on investment and standards.
Cooperation also extends to agriculture, logistics, renewable energy, water management, and high-tech manufacturing, with Dutch firms among the largest European investors in Vietnam.
