Vietnam’s fruits and vegetables industry

Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable industry is a major agricultural sector that has grown steadily over recent years.

It takes advantage of the country’s tropical climate and varied growing regions to produce a wide range of crops year-round.

Domestic consumption is rising, driven by increasing incomes and greater consumer focus on fresh, safe and organic produce.

Key challenges include small-scale and fragmented production, high post-harvest losses, limited cold-chain logistics and processing capacity, and climate risks such as drought and saline intrusion.

The sector offers opportunities in high-value export crops, improved processing and logistics infrastructure, and branded produce for premium markets; however, success depends on scaling operations, securing consistent quality, and integrating into global supply chains.
