Vietnam’s imports of fabrics reached US$1.42 billion in April 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a 5.68 percent increase compared to the import value in March, with a year-to-date import value of US$4.87 billion for this category.
China remains the dominant fabric supplier:
China was overwhelmingly the leading supplier of fabrics to Vietnam in April, with imports valued at US$1.02 billion. This marks a significant 12.10 percent increase from March and accounts for a commanding 68.05 percent of the total year-to-date imports in this category.
Taiwan and South Korea follow as key suppliers:
Taiwan was the second-largest supplier in April, with imports valued at US$132.86 million, a decrease of 12.76 percent from the previous month. Taiwan accounts for 10.99 percent of the year-to-date imports. South Korea followed closely with imports of US$121.16 million, a slight decrease of 3.31 percent from March, representing 9.38 percent of the YTD figure.
Japan maintains a notable position:
Japan remained a significant fabric supplier, with imports valued at US$60.28 million in April, a minor decrease of 1.96 percent from March, contributing 4.60 percent to the year-to-date total.
Significant month-on-month increases and decreases:
Belgium experienced the largest month-on-month increase at 61.58 percent, while Hong Kong saw a substantial rise of 35.56 percent. Conversely, Bangladesh experienced the most significant decrease at 73.38 percent, followed by the UK at 70.89 percent and Singapore at 67.12 percent.
