Machines & equipment: Vietnam exports up 0.88 percent in April, USA top destination

Vietnam’s exports of machine, equipment, tools and instruments reached US$4.71 billion in April 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a marginal increase of 0.88 percent compared to March, with a year-to-date (YTD) export value of US$17.09 billion.

USA remains the top export market despite a slight decrease:

The USA was the leading export market in April, with exports valued at US$1.91 billion. This marks a slight decrease of 2.65 percent from March but still accounts for the largest share of the year-to-date exports at 41.94 percent.

China sees substantial growth to become the second-largest market:

China was the second-largest export market in April, with exports valued at US$427.86 million, a significant increase of 40.12 percent from the previous month. China accounts for 7.05 percent of the year-to-date exports.

Hong Kong records significant growth:

Exports to Hong Kong experienced a substantial increase of 25.99 percent in April, reaching US$303.05 million. Hong Kong accounts for 5.64 percent of the year-to-date exports.

South Korea sees a slight decrease:

Exports to South Korea saw a decrease of 3.73 percent in April, falling to US$265.69 million. South Korea accounts for 5.76 percent of the year-to-date exports.

Significant month-on-month increases and decreases:

Finland experienced the largest month-on-month increase at 1341.86 percent, followed by Myanmar and India. Conversely, Angola experienced the most significant decrease at 95.37 percent, followed by Ukraine and Brunei Darussalam.
