Vietnam exported US$35.86 million worth of goods to Panama in August 2025, down 7.6 percent from July’s US$38.82 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
Year-to-date exports reached US$313.38 million.
Telephones and components rose sharply by 39.6 percent month-on-month to US$12.55 million, becoming the top export at 31.8 percent of the total.
Footwear followed at US$10.16 million but fell 27.5 percent, while textiles and garments recorded US$4.80 million, down 4.5 percent.
Other products contributed US$4.71 million, also slightly lower than July.
Computers and electronics declined significantly to US$3.50 million, a drop of 32.8 percent.
Shipments of vehicles and parts contracted steeply to just US$0.14 million.
Fishery products recorded no exports in August after US$0.09 million in July.
Vietnam–Panama trade is characterised by complementary strengths.
The Panama Canal positions the country as a strategic hub for Vietnamese goods entering Latin America and for Panamanian products reaching Asian markets.
Bilateral trade has grown in recent years, supported by both nations’ interest in expanding economic links beyond traditional partners.
Opportunities exist in logistics, shipping services, and value-added processing, while challenges include limited market awareness, transport costs, and regulatory differences.
Both governments view the partnership as a step toward deeper Asia–Latin America integration, with Panama’s role as a logistics gateway complementing Vietnam’s position as a regional manufacturing hub.
