Currency: Vietnam exchange rate and liquidity update: September 29, 2025
The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) set the central exchange rate at VND 25,192 per US$1 on September 29, down 2 dong from the previous session. However, the spread between the unofficial mid-rate and SBV’s central rate widened to 5.47 percent, up from 5.34 percent on September 26.
Stock market: Vietnam’s VN-Index up, foreign investors net-sell US$29.15, Monday
The VN-Index closed at 1,666.48, up 5.78 points or 0.35 percent, with total market trading value at VND 27.17 trillion (US$1.04 billion), according to the latest data from Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange. Foreign investors recorded a net outflow of VND 758 billion or US$29.15 million on September 29, with total activity valued at VND 5.45 trillion or US$209.6 million
ASEAN→ South America Trade: Vietnam exports to Panama fall 7.6 percent in August
Vietnam exported US$35.86 million worth of goods to Panama in August 2025, down 7.6 percent from July’s US$38.82 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. Year-to-date exports reached US$313.38 million.
CPTPP: Vietnam exports to Peru rise 8.4 percent in August, led by phones and footwear
Vietnam exported US$51.71 million worth of goods to Peru in August 2025, up 8.4 percent from July’s US$47.69 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. Year-to-date exports reached US$336.10 million.
Plastics: Vietnam plastic product imports ease 3.1 percent in August, China & South Korea top sources
Vietnam imported US$949.27 million worth of plastic products in August 2025, down 3.1 percent from July’s US$979.49 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. Year-to-date imports reached US$6.89 billion.
Healthcare: Vietnam pharmaceutical material imports down 14 percent in August, China & India top sources
Vietnam imported US$32.29 million worth of pharmaceutical materials in August, a 14 percent decline from US$37.53 million in July, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. Year-to-date imports stood at US$328.41 million.
