Vietnam exported US$51.71 million worth of goods to Peru in August 2025, up 8.4 percent from July’s US$47.69 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
Year-to-date exports reached US$336.10 million.
Telephones and components remained the largest export category at US$18.51 million, making up 37.4 percent of the total.
Footwear followed with US$10.09 million, up sharply 36.7 percent month-on-month.
Other products contributed US$7.54 million but fell 33.8 percent.
Computers and electronics also showed strong growth, reaching US$6.26 million.
Additional categories such as clinker and cement (US$4.49 million), textiles and garments (US$2.18 million), and fishery products (US$0.79 million) played smaller but notable roles.
Exports of yarn dropped sharply to US$0.59 million, while plastics and rubber saw reduced shipments.
Vietnam–Peru trade is underpinned by growing economic ties between Southeast Asia and Latin America, anchored by the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), of which both countries are members.
Bilateral trade has expanded steadily, with Vietnam exporting textiles, footwear, electronics, and seafood, while importing fishmeal, minerals, and agricultural products.
Peru serves as a strategic entry point for Vietnamese goods into the Latin American market, while Vietnam provides access to ASEAN and broader Asian supply chains for Peruvian exporters.
Opportunities lie in diversifying beyond traditional commodities toward higher-value products and joint ventures in agriculture, fisheries, and manufacturing.
Challenges remain in logistics, market awareness, and regulatory differences, but the relationship reflects both governments’ efforts to deepen South–South cooperation and leverage trade agreements for broader market access.
