Animal fats and oils: Vietnam imports fall 10.55 percent in April despite surge from Malaysia

Vietnam imported US$124.43 million worth of animal and vegetable fats and oils in April, down 10.55 percent from March, according to the latest data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. Total year-to-date imports reached US$457.81 million, with Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand the top suppliers.

Country highlights:

Indonesia remained the dominant supplier despite a 38.35 percent drop from March, delivering US$62.39 million in April and accounting for 58.32 percent of total YTD imports.
Malaysia surged to US$41.26 million in April, up 134.91 percent month-on-month, contributing 24.76 percent of total YTD imports.
Thailand exported US$5.76 million, though this marked a 22.53 percent decline from March.
Australia delivered US$1.74 million, down 9.60 percent month-on-month.
India sent US$1.43 million in April, up 6.13 percent from March.
China exports fell 39.39 percent to US$1.68 million.
USA exports dropped 27.76 percent to just US$172,577.
