Vietnam Market Wrap: VN-Index rises 9.58 points as foreign investors return to net buying
The VN-Index closed at 1,347.69 on 17 June 2025, up 9.58 points or 0.72 percent. Total trading value reached VND 20,913.38 billion (approximately US$804 million).
Bamboo and rattan products: Vietnam exports rise 1.12% in May
Vietnam’s exports of bamboo and rattan products reached US$79.93 million in May 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a modest increase of 1.12 percent compared to April, bringing the year-to-date (YTD) export value to US$368.21 million.
Wood & Wooden Products: Vietnam Imports Climb by 21.89% in May
Vietnam’s imports of wood and wooden products reached US$301.02 million in May 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a substantial increase of 21.89 percent compared to April, bringing the year-to-date (YTD) import value to US$1.22 billion.
Aquaculture: Vietnam fishery product exports jump 10.68% in May
Vietnam’s exports of fishery products reached nearly US$997.12 million in May 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This marks a significant increase of 10.68 percent compared to April, bringing the year-to-date (YTD) export value to US$4.21 billion.
Automotive: Vietnam motor vehicle parts & accessories up 8.70 percent in May
Vietnam’s imports of motor vehicle parts and accessories reached US$471.82 million in May 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a significant increase of 8.70 percent compared to April, bringing the year-to-date (YTD) import value to US$2.17 billion.
Intellectual property: Vietnam counterfeit crackdown uncoveres 3,100+ violations
Vietnam’s nationwide crackdown on counterfeit goods uncovered 3,114 violations worth more than VND 63 billion (US$2.42 million) between May 15 and June 15, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and reported by VN Express. The campaign involved 3,891 inspections across the country.
Manufacturing: Vietnam approves 1,881-hectare Da Nang Free Trade Zone
Vietnam’s Prime Minister, Pham Minh Chinh, has officially approved the creation of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone (FTZ), The Investor has reported. The FTZ is set to cover 1,881 hectares across seven non-contiguous sites.
