Yarn: Vietnam imports slightly up in April, China remains top supplier

Vietnam’s imports of yarn reached US$250.44 million in April 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a slight increase of 2.31 percent compared to March, with a year-to-date (YTD) import value of US$901.29 million.

China remains the dominant supplier with significant growth:

China was the leading supplier in April, with imports valued at US$178.90 million. This marks a substantial increase of 11.17 percent from March and accounts for a commanding 65.76 percent of the total year-to-date imports.

Taiwan sees a decrease but remains a key supplier:

Taiwan was the second-largest supplier in April, with imports valued at US$15.98 million, a decrease of 22.22 percent from the previous month. Taiwan accounts for 8.19 percent of the year-to-date imports.

India experiences a significant decrease:

Imports from India saw a substantial decrease of 40.14 percent in April, falling to US$10.12 million. India accounts for 5.93 percent of the year-to-date imports.

South Korea records a notable increase:

Imports from South Korea experienced a significant increase of 21.99 percent in April, reaching US$8.93 million. South Korea accounts for 4.08 percent of the year-to-date imports.

Significant month-on-month increases and decreases:

Netherlands experienced the largest month-on-month increase at 164.81 percent, followed by Austria and Pakistan. Conversely, Hong Kong experienced the most significant decrease as imports ceased entirely, followed by Japan and India.
