Vietnam’s imports of wood and wooden products reached US$246.97 million in April 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a decrease of 5.65 percent compared to March, with a year-to-date (YTD) import value of US$915.05 million.
China remains the dominant supplier despite a slight decrease:
China was the leading supplier in April, with imports valued at US$111.35 million. This marks a slight decrease of 2.43 percent from March but still accounts for a commanding 43.60 percent of the total year-to-date imports.
USA sees an increase to become a major supplier:
The USA was the second-largest supplier in April, with imports valued at US$35.26 million, an increase of 10.31 percent from the previous month. The USA accounts for 12.97 percent of the year-to-date imports.
Laos sees a moderate increase:
Imports from Laos experienced an increase of 9.49 percent in April, reaching US$11.34 million. Laos accounts for 3.93 percent of the year-to-date imports.
Thailand experiences a significant decrease:
Imports from Thailand saw a substantial decrease of 28.70 percent in April, falling to US$9.88 million. Thailand accounts for 4.57 percent of the year-to-date imports.
Significant month-on-month increases and decreases:
Australia experienced the largest month-on-month increase at 114.54 percent, followed by Canada and Taiwan. Conversely, Congo experienced the most significant decrease at 52.17 percent, followed by Brazil and South Korea.
