Vietnam’s textile, leather, and footwear material imports rise by 6.40 percent in December

Vietnam imported US$643.60 million worth of textile, leather, and footwear materials and auxiliaries in December 2024, marking a 6.40 percent increase compared to November, according to data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. Year-to-date imports reached US$7.15 billion.

China remained the dominant supplier, exporting US$349.57 million in December, up 5.56 percent month-on-month. Other suppliers collectively contributed US$87.24 million, a significant 17.00 percent increase. Thailand and Japan also showed strong growth, with imports rising by 19.03 percent and 8.40 percent, respectively.

Conversely, imports from the USA and South Korea saw slight declines of 1.64 percent and 0.94 percent, respectively. India and Brazil experienced larger drops, with imports falling by 5.85 percent and 1.83 percent, respectively.
