Vietnam’s pepper exports decline by 9.86 percent in January

Vietnam’s pepper exports fell by 9.86 percent month-on-month in January, reaching US$87.54 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.

The US remained the largest market, accounting for 24.82 percent of total exports at US$21.73 million, a 28.26 percent decrease from December. Germany followed with US$9.37 million, representing 10.70 percent of total exports, surging by 70.17 percent. India ranked third with US$6.99 million, making up 7.98 percent of total exports, rising by 45.30 percent.

Compared to December, Pakistan recorded the highest growth, increasing by 156.12 percent to US$2.64 million. South Korea and Senegal also saw significant increases, growing by 107.36 percent and 120.47 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, exports to France and Poland declined sharply, falling by 63.27 percent and 61.43 percent, respectively.

The top five markets—the US, Germany, India, the UK, and South Korea—accounted for 52.65 percent of Vietnam’s total pepper exports in January. While some smaller markets showed strong growth, the overall decline reflects weaker demand in key export destinations.
