Vietnam Exports Tracker: April Update [data set]

Vietnam’s exports fell to US$37.4 billion in April down from US$38.5 billion in March. This represents a decrease of 23.8 percent, according to the latest data from Vietnam Customs.

Vietnam’s exports jumped to US$38.5 billion in March up from US$31.1 billion in February. This represents an increase of 23.79 percent. Notably, March is a few days longer than February which may have contributed to the size of the increase.

Vietnam’s exports fell to US$31.1 billion in February down from US$33.2 billion in December. This represents a fall of 6.27 percent, however, it should be noted that the last week of January saw most businesses in Vietnam closed for the Lunar New Year holiday. It could be that businesses were just a little slow to start back up. Also February is only 28 days vs January’s 31.

Vietnam’s exports fell to US$33.2 billion in January down from US$35.6 billion in December. This represents a fall of 6.6 percent, however, it should be noted that the last week of January saw most businesses in Vietnam closed for the Lunar New Year holiday.

Vietnam’s exports jumped to US$35.6 billion in December bringing the country’s total exports for the year to US$405.5 billion. This growth has been buoyed by double-digit increases in exports of computers, electrical products, spare parts and components thereof; as well as in telephones, mobile phones and parts thereof; and machine, equipment, tools and instruments.

Vietnam’s exports hit US$34.1 billion in September bringing the country’s total exports for the year to US$299.65 billion, an increase over 2023 of 15.4 percent. Of note, September’s exports were down about 9.8 percent over August which looks to be the result of Typhoon Yagi which hobbled a number of key manufacturing operations in northern Vietnam.

Vietnam’s exports hit US$37.8 billion in August bringing the country’s total exports for the year to US$265.4 billion, an increase over 2023 of 15.9 percent. This growth was buoyed by double-digit increases in exports of computers, electrical products, spare parts and components thereof; as well as high single digit growth in textiles and garments and wood and wooden products.

Vietnam’s exports hit US$33.7 billion in June bringing the country’s total exports for the year to US$190.7 billion, an increase over 2023 of 14.9 percent. This growth was buoyed by double-digit increases in exports of computers, phones, and garments and textiles.

Vietnam exported US$32.27 billion worth of goods in May of 2024 an increase of 3.9 percent over April. This brings Vietnam’s total exports for the first five months of 2024 to US$156.28 billion of which foreign invested enterprises accounted for 71.62 percent, just shy of US$112 billion worth.
