Vietnam’s milk and dairy processing industry sees steady growth

Vietnam’s processing of milk and dairy products increased by 4.3 percent in December 2024 compared to November 2024, according to Vietnam’s Industrial Production Index.

Year-on-year, the sector grew by 5.7 percent in December 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. For the full year of 2024, cumulative growth stood at 3.5 percent compared to 2023, reflecting a steady upward trend in the industry.

The December monthly increase highlights rising consumer demand during the year-end holiday season. The year-on-year and year-to-date growth underscores the sector’s resilience, driven by expanding domestic consumption and growing export opportunities.

Vietnam’s dairy industry is a critical component of its food processing sector, benefiting from increasing investments in technology, improved supply chains, and rising health-conscious consumption patterns. The industry continues to grow as demand for value-added products, such as flavoured milk and yogurt, rises both locally and in export markets.

The positive growth trend showcases the industry’s importance to Vietnam’s economy and its potential for further development in both domestic and international markets.
