Vietnam’s imports of precious stones, precious metals, and related articles surged 49.14 percent month-on-month in February, reaching US$82.66 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This follows January’s total of US$55.43 million, bringing year-to-date imports to US$138.09 million.
India remained the top supplier with US$13.91 million, up 29.63 percent from January, accounting for 16.82 percent of total imports. Hong Kong and South Korea followed, with imports rising 31.74 percent and 11.84 percent, respectively. Switzerland recorded the highest increase, surging 230.51 percent to US$8.36 million, while Belgium and France posted even more dramatic gains of 715.52 percent and 430.61 percent, respectively.
Meanwhile, imports from China fell 39.17 percent to US$3.96 million, marking a significant decline despite its historically strong trade relationship with Vietnam in this sector.
