Vietnam’s imports of fertilizers rise 15.67 percent in January

Vietnam’s imports of fertilizers increased by 15.67 percent month-on-month in January to US$143.83 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This follows an increase from US$124.34 million recorded in December.

Year-to-date, Vietnam’s total fertilizer imports stood at US$143.83 million. India remained the largest supplier, contributing US$46.01 million, or 31.98 percent of the total. Indonesia followed with US$39.33 million, representing 27.35 percent, while China supplied US$28.50 million.

Among major suppliers, Poland recorded the highest month-on-month growth, increasing 109.52 percent. Denmark and Chile also saw notable rises of 13.16 percent and 8.72 percent, respectively. In contrast, Lithuania saw the steepest decline, with imports falling 61.92 percent. Russia and Malaysia also posted significant drops of 51.11 percent and 51.76 percent, respectively.

The industry remains heavily reliant on India, Indonesia, and China, which together accounted for more than two-thirds of Vietnam’s fertilizer imports. While Poland and Denmark showed strong growth, overall imports from most key suppliers declined significantly, reflecting shifting trade patterns.
