Canadian tourist arrivals in Vietnam rise sharply in January

Vietnam welcomed 18,785 tourists from Canada in January, making up 0.9 percent of total international arrivals, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Tourism. This marks a 35.3 percent increase from December and a 32.7 percent rise year-on-year.

Tourism between Canada and Vietnam has seen gradual growth in recent years, supported by expanding economic, cultural, and educational exchanges. As both countries continue to deepen their bilateral relations, tourism has become a key aspect of people-to-people connections, with increasing numbers of Canadians visiting Vietnam and more Vietnamese travelers exploring Canada.

For Canadian tourists, Vietnam offers a wide variety of experiences, including vibrant cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Ha Long Bay and the ancient town of Hoi An, and scenic landscapes like the Mekong Delta. The country’s rich history, beautiful beaches, delicious cuisine, and affordability make it an attractive destination for Canadian travelers. Additionally, the short travel time, direct flight options, and ease of access from Canadian cities like Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal further encourage Canadians to visit Vietnam.

On the other hand, Vietnam has also become an increasingly popular destination for Vietnamese tourists. Canada, known for its vast landscapes, cosmopolitan cities like Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal, and natural wonders such as Niagara Falls and Banff National Park, offers diverse travel experiences for Vietnamese visitors. Canada’s high quality of life, multicultural environment, and reputation as an excellent destination for education and business have further attracted Vietnamese travelers, particularly students and professionals.

The tourism relationship between the two countries is supported by enhanced air connectivity, visa facilitation, and tourism promotion initiatives. As both nations continue to strengthen their ties, tourism between Canada and Vietnam is expected to continue growing, offering more opportunities for cultural exchange, leisure, and business travel, further fostering mutual understanding and collaboration.
