Vietnam’s imports of cashew nuts fell by 6.54 percent month-on-month in January to US$172.66 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This follows a decline from US$184.74 million recorded in December.
Year-to-date, Vietnam’s total imports of cashew nuts stood at US$172.66 million. Tanzania was the largest supplier, contributing US$88.49 million, or 51.25 percent of the total. Ivory Coast followed with US$13 million, representing 7.53 percent, while Indonesia accounted for US$11.51 million.
Among key suppliers, Cambodia recorded the highest month-on-month growth, rising 527.54 percent. In contrast, Ghana saw the steepest decline, with imports falling 78.64 percent. Indonesia and Nigeria also posted significant drops of 58.54 percent and 74.57 percent, respectively.
The industry continues to be dominated by Tanzania, which remains Vietnam’s primary source of cashew nuts. The sharp increase in imports from Cambodia and the decline from traditional suppliers like Ivory Coast and Ghana suggest shifting market dynamics.
