Vietnam’s imports from Switzerland surge 43 percent in February

Vietnam imported US$65.71 million worth of goods from Switzerland in February 2025, marking a sharp increase of 42.94 percent from US$45.98 million in January, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This brought total imports from Switzerland in the first two months of the year to US$111.70 million.

Key categories driving the February surge included computers, electrical products and spare parts, which rose to US$11.94 million, up significantly from US$7.07 million in January. Imports of pharmaceutical products also grew strongly, reaching US$10.84 million. Other major imports were machinery and equipment at US$11.14 million and precious metals and related articles at US$8.36 million.

Plastic products increased to US$2.64 million in February, while imports of fabrics, chemical products, and iron and steel products all saw month-on-month gains. Notably, chemical-related goods such as chemicals and pharmaceutical materials also showed consistent performance. Milk and milk products rose slightly to US$1.65 million.

Imports of other products—those not classified into specific categories—reached US$12.51 million in February, remaining the largest single category. There were also increases in lower-volume items such as edible food preparations, perfumery and cosmetic goods, and insecticides and rodenticides.

Vietnam’s February import surge from Switzerland reflects increased demand across several industrial and pharmaceutical segments, reinforcing the European country’s role as a reliable source of high-value and specialised goods.
