Vietnam’s gaseous natural gas production decreases by 8.1% in January 2025

Vietnam’s gaseous natural gas production has seen a slight decrease month on month. According to the latest data from Vietnam’s General Office of Statistics, the country produced 572.4 million m³ of gaseous natural gas in December 2025. In January, this figure decreased to 526.0 million m³.

Gaseous natural gas remains an important energy source for Vietnam, though the decline in production could suggest challenges in output or production capacity.

Vietnam’s natural gas extraction is primarily concentrated in offshore fields, particularly in the southern regions, including the Nam Con Son and Cuu Long basins. Efforts to optimise extraction and explore new reserves are underway to meet the growing energy demand.
