Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports reached US$457.99 million in November, marking an 11.89 percent drop compared to October, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
Year-to-date exports totalled US$6.62 billion, driven primarily by strong performance in China, which accounted for US$4.33 billion. Thailand showcased notable growth, with a 51.04 percent month-on-month increase, while other key markets like Taiwan and the Netherlands recorded steep declines of 21.36 percent and 24.90 percent, respectively.
The significant drop in exports to China, the largest importer, at 23.56 percent month-on-month, underscores the industry’s dependency on this market. On the other hand, increased exports to Thailand and Australia demonstrate opportunities for diversification.
Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable sector remains an essential part of the economy, with high growth potential in underpenetrated markets. Strategic efforts to diversify exports are crucial for stabilising growth amid fluctuating global demand.
