Vietnam’s exports to Italy totalled US$469.68 million in October, reflecting a robust increase of 35.62 percent month-on-month. Year-to-date exports to Italy reached US$4.15 billion, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
Iron and steel recorded the most notable growth, surging by 413.63 percent to US$99.65 million. Machinery, equipment, tools, and instruments also saw a strong increase of 79.79 percent, contributing US$67.30 million. Footwear exports grew by 41.50 percent, reaching US$57.11 million, while plastics increased by 32.44 percent to US$11.15 million.
Wood and wooden products posted a growth of 40.91 percent, totalling US$1.27 million. Textiles and garments also performed well, rising by 31.11 percent to US$31.84 million.
Conversely, certain sectors experienced declines. Rubber exports fell significantly by 69.57 percent to US$1.55 million, while handbags, purses, and suitcases dropped by 16.97 percent to US$6.48 million. Telephones and mobile phones saw a decrease of 10.27 percent, amounting to US$39.68 million.
The sharp growth in key sectors like iron and steel, machinery, and footwear demonstrates Vietnam’s strengthening trade ties with Italy, despite challenges in some categories.
