Vietnam’s coal imports increased by 8.52 percent month-on-month in February, reaching US$610.90 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This follows a total of US$562.93 million in January, bringing the year-to-date coal imports to US$1.17 billion.
Australia remained Vietnam’s largest coal supplier, accounting for 36.69 percent of total imports. However, imports from Australia declined by 5.80 percent month-on-month to US$224.13 million. In contrast, shipments from Indonesia surged by 25.25 percent, reaching US$208.15 million, making it the second-largest supplier at 34.07 percent of total imports.
Imports from Russia increased by 8.49 percent to US$72.93 million, while shipments from Laos recorded the highest month-on-month growth at 77.71 percent. Meanwhile, imports from China fell sharply by 29.13 percent.
