Vietnam’s exports of coal increased by 153.30 percent in February 2025 compared to January, reaching US$16.18 million, according to data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
Vietnam’s coal exports total US$22.76 million for 2025, driven by a sharp rise in shipments to Japan and the Philippines.
The surge in exports was largely due to a significant increase in shipments to Japan, which rose by an extraordinary 32,089.87 percent, amounting to US$6.54 million. Exports to the Philippines also saw strong growth, amounting to US$6.48 million. Additionally, exports to Taiwan reached US$577,500, marking the first shipments of the year.
However, some markets experienced declines. Exports to Indonesia and Thailand saw significant drops, decreasing by 49.44 percent and 96.00 percent, respectively.
