Vietnam’s fertilizers industry
Vietnam’s fertiliser industry plays a central role in supporting the country’s large agricultural sector, which produces rice, coffee, rubber, fruit and seafood for both domestic consumption and export.
Domestic production is dominated by nitrogen fertilisers such as urea and NPK compounds produced by state-linked firms, including PetroVietnam Fertiliser and Chemicals and PetroVietnam Ca Mau Fertiliser.
Despite significant local production capacity, Vietnam still imports large volumes of potash, ammonium sulphate and other specialised fertilisers due to limited domestic raw materials.
Demand for fertilisers is closely tied to crop cycles, global commodity prices and government policies aimed at stabilising agricultural output and food security.
