Vietnam culture, entertainment and tourism costs increase in 2024

Culture, entertainment, and tourism costs in Vietnam rose by 2.31 percent in December 2024 compared to December 2023, according to Vietnam’s Consumer Price Index. Month-on-month, prices increased by .2 percent from November 2024.

For the full year 2024, costs were up by 1.97 percent compared to 2023, reflecting growing demand for leisure activities and tourism services as the country continues its post-pandemic recovery.

The CPI for culture, entertainment, and tourism in Vietnam reflects price changes in activities and services such as recreational events, cultural programs, cinema, sports, leisure facilities, and travel-related expenses like accommodation and transportation. This category is a vital indicator of consumer spending trends and the overall affordability of recreational and tourism activities in the country.

In recent years, the CPI for culture, entertainment, and tourism has been influenced by several factors. Rising demand for leisure and travel, particularly among Vietnam’s growing middle class, has driven moderate price increases in services such as resort stays, amusement parks, and cultural events. Additionally, the increasing influx of international tourists has contributed to higher prices in popular destinations like Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang, especially during peak seasons.

Global disruptions such as the COVID-19 pandemic caused temporary declines in this CPI category due to reduced tourism and entertainment activities. However, as Vietnam’s tourism and entertainment industries recover, the CPI has shown signs of steady growth, reflecting increased demand and the rising costs of improving service quality.

Government initiatives to promote tourism and culture, coupled with private sector investments in entertainment facilities and infrastructure, are expected to sustain growth in this CPI category. While prices are likely to rise in line with service upgrades and growing demand, the competitive market ensures a variety of affordable options for both domestic and international consumers.
