Norwegian tourist arrivals to Vietnam grow by 37.40 percent in December

Vietnam welcomed 3,391 tourists from Norway in December, an increase of 923 visitors compared to November, reflecting a significant month-on-month growth of 37.40 percent, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Tourism. In 2024, Norwegian arrivals reached 27,936 in 2024, marking a 23.0 percent increase compared to the previous year.

Norwegian tourists are drawn to Vietnam for its blend of cultural richness, scenic beauty, and tropical climate. Popular destinations include Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City for their historical landmarks and vibrant urban atmosphere, as well as Phu Quoc, Da Nang, and Nha Trang for beach getaways. UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Halong Bay and Hoi An also appeal to Norwegian travellers seeking cultural and natural experiences.

Many Norwegian visitors enjoy eco-tourism activities, including trekking in Sapa, exploring the Mekong Delta, and rural homestays. They also value culinary experiences, particularly Vietnam’s street food and fresh seafood. Norwegian tourists often plan longer trips to maximise their time exploring multiple regions.

While there are no direct flights between Norway and Vietnam, airlines like Qatar Airways, Emirates, and Turkish Airlines provide convenient connections via Doha, Dubai, and Istanbul. The December increase may reflect seasonal interest in tropical destinations during Norway’s winter months.

With steady growth year-on-year, Vietnam continues to attract Norwegian tourists, supported by its diverse offerings and improved travel connectivity.
