Technical fabrics: Vietnam exports up 9.53% in May

Vietnam’s exports of tyre cord fabrics and other fabrics for technical uses reached US$70.83 million in May 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents an increase of 9.53 percent compared to April, bringing the year-to-date (YTD) export value to US$326.48 million.

Top Markets and Notable Increases:

• The USA remained the dominant market, with exports soaring by 27.50 percent to US$22.11 million, accounting for 27.14 percent of YTD exports.
• Brazil recorded an impressive surge of 80.90 percent, reaching US$1.55 million.
• Hungary saw strong growth of 34.93 percent.
• Luxembourg exports jumped by 21.19 percent.
• Thailand increased by 12.61 percent.
• Japan exports grew by 6.61 percent.
• The “Other” category also saw a 7.68 percent increase.

Significant Declines:

• Canada experienced the sharpest decrease, plummeting by 58.83 percent.
• Indonesia exports fell by 23.10 percent.
• South Korea decreased by 9.98 percent.
• China saw a slight decline of 4.08 percent.
• Notably, there were no exports to Argentina in May after significant exports in April.

The May data for Vietnam’s exports of tyre cord fabrics and other fabrics for technical uses indicates a positive overall trend, primarily driven by strong demand from the USA and significant growth in emerging markets like Brazil and Hungary. Despite declines in some markets, the sector shows healthy expansion.
