Vietnam welcomed 42,515 tourists from Russia in January, accounting for 2.1 percent of total international arrivals, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Tourism. This marks a 49.1 percent increase from December and a significant 116.8 percent rise year-on-year.
Russian hotel brands in Vietnam have been growing in presence, catering to the increasing number of Russian tourists visiting the country. Vietnam’s popularity as a travel destination for Russian nationals has grown significantly, with key cities like Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and coastal destinations such as Nha Trang and Phu Quoc attracting Russian visitors. As a result, several Russian hotel chains and independent hotels have expanded their operations in Vietnam to meet the demand for accommodations that cater to Russian travelers.
These hotels typically offer services and amenities tailored to Russian preferences, including Russian-speaking staff, Russian-language television channels, and Russian cuisine, creating a familiar environment for visitors. In addition to established Russian-owned hotels, several Vietnamese hotels also actively target Russian tourists, offering packages and services that appeal to this growing demographic.
Nha Trang, a popular coastal city in Vietnam, is home to several hotels catering to Russian tourists, given its appeal as a beach resort destination. The rise in Russian tourism has also led to the opening of more Russian-owned or affiliated hotels in the area, which offer both high-end and mid-range accommodations.
The growing presence of Russian hotels in Vietnam reflects the expanding tourism relationship between the two countries, supported by increased air connectivity, relaxed visa policies, and an increasing number of Russian expatriates living in Vietnam. As the number of Russian tourists continues to rise, the demand for Russian-style hotels and accommodations is likely to keep growing, further enhancing the hospitality sector in Vietnam.
