Vietnam’s exports of handbags, purses, suitcases, headgear, and umbrellas fell by 12.95 percent month-on-month in January, reaching US$362.19 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
The US remained the largest market, accounting for 42.32 percent of total exports at US$153.29 million, a 13.28 percent decline from December. Japan followed with US$46.34 million, representing 12.79 percent of total exports, increasing by 7.00 percent. The Netherlands ranked third with US$24.36 million, making up 6.73 percent of total exports, down 9.57 percent.
Compared to December, Norway recorded the highest growth, surging by 201.13 percent to US$1.14 million. The UAE and Armenia also saw significant increases, rising by 52.91 percent and 135.48 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, exports to Hong Kong and Russia declined sharply, falling by 53.47 percent and 44.89 percent, respectively.
The top five markets—the US, Japan, the Netherlands, Germany, and South Korea—accounted for 68.07 percent of Vietnam’s total handbag, suitcase, and headgear exports in January. While some smaller markets showed strong growth, the overall decline was driven by weaker demand in key export destinations.
