Vietnam-Russia news

Recent developments in trade and investment between the two countries include:

Nuclear fuel delivery

Rosatom’s Nuclear Fuel Division  delivered a new batch of nuclear fuel to Vietnam’s Dalat Nuclear Research Institute, ensuring reactor operations through the 2030s, World-Nuclear-News was reporting in November.

The delivery forms part of the Russia–Vietnam Nuclear Roadmap to 2030, which also includes training, a nuclear science centre, and cooperation on the Ninh Thuan 1 plant using VVER-1200 reactors.

Vietnam milk Russia

On 4 November 2025, Russian President Vladimir Putin personally awarded Vietnam’s Labour Hero Thai Huong, founder of TH Group and CEO of Bac A Bank, the Order of Friendship at the Kremlin for her contributions to Vietnam–Russia cooperation in food security.

Thai Huong launched a US$2.7 billion high-tech agricultural investment in Russia in 2015, establishing dairy farms and processing plants across Moscow, Kaluga, Bashkortostan and Primorsky.

Vietnam-Russia trade relations

Vietnam and Russia have maintained diplomatic relations since 1950, building a foundation of cooperation that later expanded into trade and economic ties.

The two countries have signed key agreements including a free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union, which has helped boost bilateral commerce.

Trade covers energy, machinery, fertilisers, seafood and agricultural products, with both sides looking to diversify exchanges beyond traditional sectors.

Regular high-level visits and joint economic commissions continue to support deeper cooperation and investment as the long-standing partnership evolves.
