Of note, post and telecommunications costs in Vietnam are relatively affordable, though they can vary depending on the type of service and provider. The sector has seen significant improvements in recent years, with increased competition, modern infrastructure, and expanding internet connectivity, which have contributed to reducing costs for consumers.

For postal services, Vietnam has a well-established system, with the state-owned Vietnam Post being the main provider. Basic services like sending letters or small packages domestically are affordable, with prices starting from VND 10,000 to VND 30,000 (about US$0.40 to US$1.20) for small items. International postal rates are higher, with costs depending on the destination and the weight of the package. Sending a standard letter internationally typically costs around VND 40,000 to VND 100,000 (US$1.60 to US$4), while packages may cost significantly more, depending on size and weight.

Telecommunications services, including mobile phone and internet services, are widely available and competitively priced. Vietnam has several major mobile network providers, including Viettel, Vinaphone, and Mobifone, offering a variety of plans and packages. Prepaid mobile plans are common, with costs starting from VND 10,000 to VND 50,000 (about US$0.40 to US$2) for basic plans that include a certain number of talk minutes and data. Monthly postpaid plans typically range from VND 100,000 to VND 300,000 (US$4 to US$12), depending on the level of service and data package.

For internet services, broadband prices in Vietnam are affordable. Monthly internet plans for home use range from VND 200,000 to VND 600,000 (about US$8 to US$24) for standard packages, with higher-speed plans or fibre-optic connections costing more. The availability of Wi-Fi in public places, such as cafes, hotels, and restaurants, has also expanded, providing more access to internet services at no additional charge.

Overall, post and telecommunications costs in Vietnam are affordable by international standards, with a range of options to suit different budgets and needs. The sector is highly competitive, driving down prices and improving service quality, making it accessible to both local residents and international visitors.
