Phones: Vietnam exports down 22.04 percent in April, China top destination

Vietnam’s exports of phones reached US$3.76 billion in April 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a significant decrease of 22.04 percent compared to March, with a year-to-date (YTD) export value of US$17.80 billion.

China remains the top export market despite a substantial decrease:

China was the leading export market in April, with exports valued at US$845.46 million. This marks a significant decrease of 32.35 percent from March but still accounts for the largest share of the year-to-date exports at 19.94 percent.

USA remains a key export market with a moderate decrease:

The USA was the second-largest export market in April, with exports valued at US$697.75 million, showing a decrease of 12.23 percent from the previous month. The USA accounts for 19.35 percent of the year-to-date exports.

UAE sees significant growth:

Exports to the UAE experienced a substantial increase of 29.77 percent in April, reaching US$288.18 million. UAE accounts for 5.88 percent of the year-to-date exports.

South Korea sees a slight decrease:

Exports to South Korea saw a decrease of 7.76 percent in April, falling to US$249.33 million. South Korea accounts for 5.78 percent of the year-to-date exports.

India sees a significant decrease:

Exports to India experienced a substantial decrease of 20.16 percent in April, reaching US$159.14 million. India accounts for 4.20 percent of the year-to-date exports.

Significant month-on-month increases and decreases:

Saudi Arabia experienced the largest month-on-month increase at 79.40 percent, followed by Hong Kong and Argentina. Conversely, Italy experienced the most significant decrease at 77.50 percent, followed by France and Chile. Notably, there were no exports to Bangladesh in April after exports in March.
