Vietnam’s exports of petroleum products reached US$91.76 million in April 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a decrease of 22.08 percent compared to March, with a year-to-date (YTD) export value of US$355.52 million.
Malaysia becomes the top export market with extraordinary growth:
Malaysia emerged as the leading export market in April, with exports valued at US$20.79 million, an astounding increase of 543.46 percent from March. Malaysia accounts for 7.09 percent of the year-to-date exports.
Cambodia sees significant growth to become a major export market:
Cambodia was the second-largest export market in April, with exports valued at US$20.28 million, a substantial increase of 45.87 percent from the previous month. Cambodia accounts for 20.91 percent of the year-to-date exports.
Singapore and China see significant decreases:
Exports to Singapore saw a substantial decrease of 51.59 percent in April, falling to US$16.31 million. Similarly, exports to China decreased by 62.73 percent, reaching US$14.55 million. Despite these decreases, Singapore and China account for significant shares of the year-to-date exports at 21.14 percent and 23.00 percent, respectively.
South Korea also sees a significant decrease:
Exports to South Korea experienced a substantial decrease of 43.20 percent in April, reaching US$14.21 million. South Korea accounts for 23.90 percent of the year-to-date exports.
Laos records significant growth:
Exports to Laos saw a substantial increase of 78.64 percent in April, reaching US$1.58 million. Laos accounts for 1.67 percent of the year-to-date exports.
Significant month-on-month increases and decreases:
Malaysia experienced the largest month-on-month increase at 543.46 percent, followed by Laos and the collective “Other” category. Conversely, China experienced the most significant decrease at 62.73 percent, followed by Singapore and South Korea. Notably, exports to Russia remained the same in April as in March.
